To help you install Lawbyte smoothly on a new PC, here are some hints and tips.
If you intend to use Microsoft Office along side Lawbyte, ensure it is installed first, as some files Lawbyte needs are installed with Office. If you are not using Microsoft Office, but instead using something like OpenOffice, you will need to install the Microsoft Office File Converter Pack to install these required files. This is freely available from the Microsoft Download Centre, or from our Downloads section.
If you are going to be using Microsoft Office, will you be using Microsoft Access? If not, simply do not install it. If you will be using it, do not install it as part of your Microsoft Office installation. When Lawbyte is installed, it also installs a cut down version of Access called the Access Runtime. The Runtime conflicts with any currently installed version of Access and Lawbyte will not run. After Lawbyte is installed, you can then install your full version of Microsoft Access. This conflict does not occur if you are using Microsoft Office/Access 2007.
That's it. Install Office (excluding Access) or the Office File Converter Pack, then Lawbyte, and then Access if required.
